What Is Vastu?
The word ‘Vastu’ comes from the Sanskrit word ‘Vas’ (dwell). Vastu is a part of Vedic wisdom that tells you how to arrange your homes and offices effectively, efficiently and in a manner that will attract luck and good fortune. If you are planning to buy your first home or this is your first home, it is particularly important to surround yourself with positive influences.
Typically your floor is divided into 81 squares and each square rule by a god. These 81 squares are all pieces of one large square. The corners of the square are ruled by a god, a planet (except Ketu), and a direction. The centre of the square houses is called as Brahma sthan. The overall force that keeps your home balanced is called Vastu Purush. This lays on top of the diagram. Vastu Purush’s head points to the Northeast direction and his feet point to the Southwest direction.
Vastu gives certain principles or details about the design of homes that can give a peaceful or prosperous life. To build a healthy and positive environment in the home the design of the home should be guided with Vastu. It is basically a science that balances the five basic elements of the human beings and nature. It brings peace and harmony in the lives of the people who are under the blessing of Vastu. To protect the house from the negative power and that restricts the way to success, one should implement rules defined in Vastu shasta.
